According to figures released by the HSA (Health and Safety Authority) there were 24 work-related fatalities in Ireland’s agricultural sector in 2017. In 2016 the number of fatalities was 21 and in 2015 the figure was 18. This represents a worrying trend for the farming community. The agricultural sector is a high risk sector and it is important that safe systems of work are used.
Confined spaces are a serious health risk on farms. BMAC Safety Solutions offers a number of courses dedicated to confined spaces. The training covers areas like the definition and identification of confined spaces; operating in confined spaces; what to do in an emergency and implementation of safety procedures for confined spaces.
